Responsibilities
As the Social Services Director and Lead Caseworker, the primary responsibility is to provide direct assistance to clients and to supervise those who meet one-on-one with social services clients. This position will present a pleasant, articulate, neat appearance and treat all caseworkers and clients with respect. As an employee of The Salvation Army, this role is one of compassion, regardless of why the customer is in need. This position reports to the Cheboygan Business Manager.Primary Duties & Responsibilities Have read and understood The Salvation Army's Manual Basic Social Services and electronic appendix and the Social Services Direct Care handbook, Faith in Action. Is HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) trained, have taken and passed the privacy in-service, and is able to maintain entries to Service Point and HMIS Maintain confidential information that is seen and discussed on a daily basis in the social services setting Verify information and determination of eligibility of social services for potential clients for any programs offered by TSA Be proficient in basic computer operations as well as being skilled in operating word-processing and spreadsheets programs (Microsoft Office Suite) Proficient in operation of basic office equipment Store and retrieve client files and administrative files both hard copy and electronic. Supervise other social service staff to insure quality of service to all social services clients Supervise scheduling of client interviews and oversee determination of assistance levels Reconcile local checking accounts Record and submit payroll Complete orders for food pantry Complete monthly assistance reports and submit statistics Issue emergency motel vouchers; enter information into MI Service Point, process bills Manage Christmas Toy & Voucher Program and delegate responsibilities to office staff and volunteers to ensure efficient service. Order vouchers; set date for distribution, coordinate efforts of other area Christmas programs (Vietnam Vets, Goodfellows, JC's, Toys for Tots) Oversee Seasonal Assistance preparations and distribution LRO for Cheboygan Salvation Army EFSP program Pull Data Quality reports from ART and make corrections as needed Assist Business Manager as needed to cover inter office tasks Read and agree with the requirements of TSA handbookDuties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Qualifications
Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Associated Degree with a minimum of two (2) years' casework experience preferred. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possesses excellent organizational ability and skills. Working knowledge of computer, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to electronically file, create and maintain databases, reports and informational flyers.Physical Demands Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Ability to bend, reach and stoop. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
